Known as Saamai Rava in Tamil is mostly recommended for diabetes patients for its property of releasing sugar in the blood very slowly. Saamai is a rich source of Vitamin B, Minerals, Iron, Calcium, Zinc and Potassium. Saamai rava has comparatively higher unsaturated fats which increase metabolism and results in subsequent weight loss. Saamai rava can be used in making upma, Pongal and kheer all of which can be consumed instead of rice.
